Marc Minkowski
Music Director

French conductor Marc Minkowski, known for his breadth of repertoire over the span of his 50+ year career as a conductor and one of today’s foremost interpreters of early music, will join Boston Baroque as its Music Director starting in the 2026/27 season.

Involved in artistic leadership since his teenage years, Minkowski, at only 18, founded the internationally renowned ensemble Les Musiciens du Louvre in Paris. He is also the founder of The Ré Majeure Festival in France, the former artistic director of the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, and, from 2016 to 2021, the General Manager of Opéra national de Bordeaux. He regularly conducts top orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Kanazawa Ensemble Orchestra in Japan, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Dan Ludden
Interim Executive Director

Dan Ludden, Interim Executive Director, joined Boston Baroque in 2016. Before stepping into his current role, he served as General Manager and, most recently, as Chief Artistic Administration & Operations Officer. Throughout his tenure, Dan has overseen the organization’s finances, production logistics, and office administration, while also contributing to artistic planning as a consultant in selecting vocal soloists. As Interim Executive Director, he now leads Boston Baroque’s administrative and operational work during an important period of artistic transition and growth.

Dan’s lifelong involvement in music began as a boy soprano. He later earned degrees in Musicology and Operatic Voice from Bates College and Indiana University and served on the Board of Directors of Opera Boston. His combination of musical knowledge, artistic insight, and organizational experience has shaped nearly a decade of leadership at Boston Baroque.

Christina Day Martinson
Associate Artistic Director

Christina Day Martinson serves as Concertmaster for Boston Baroque. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, GRAMMY® nominated violinist Christina Day Martinson serves as Concertmaster and Associate Artistic Director for Boston Baroque and is Associate Concertmaster for The Handel + Haydn Society. She has been a featured soloist with Boston Baroque, the Handel + Haydn Society, Joshua Rifkin's Bach Ensemble, Tempesta di Mare, Ars Lyrica Houston, the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra in Brazil and the Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart in Amsterdam. 

Martin Pearlman
Founder and Music Director Emeritus

Boston Baroque’s founder and Music Director Emeritus, Martin Pearlman, is one of the country’s leading interpreters of Baroque and Classical music on both period and modern instruments. He founded Boston Baroque in 1973 under its original name, Banchetto Musicale. The first permanent period-instrument orchestra established in North America, the ensemble was led by Pearlman for 52 years until his retirement as Music Director in 2025. Under his leadership, Boston Baroque toured throughout the United States and Europe and produced 26 major recordings for Telarc International in the United States and Linn Records in the United Kingdom. In 2022, Pearlman received the Samuel Simons Sanford Medal, the Yale School of Music’s most prestigious award, in recognition of his leadership and exceptional contributions to the field of music.

Filippo Ciabatti
Principal Guest Conductor

Beginning in June 2026, Filippo Ciabatti joins Boston Baroque’s artistic team in the newly created role of Principal Guest Conductor. From 2023 - 2025, Ciabatti served as Boston Baroque’s Assistant Conductor, assisting Martin Pearlman on all performances during that time.

Praised for his “sensitive and nuanced” musicianship and for delivering performances “with admirable sweep and tension,” Filippo Ciabatti is a dynamic and versatile conductor with a multifaceted career.

Nic Laschever
Director of Marketing & Audience Development

Nic Laschever joined Boston Baroque in 2024 and serves as Director of Marketing & Audience Development, overseeing the organization’s marketing strategy, brand, digital communications, and audience engagement. A freelance graphic designer and marketing consultant since 2017, Nic combines experience in visual art, theatrical design, and integrated marketing to create bold, research-driven campaigns. Their work has supported Lyric Opera of Chicago, Boston Lyric Opera, White Snake Projects, Chicago Fringe Opera, Beth Morrison Projects, and other arts organizations.

Nic lives in Chicago with their wife, mezzo-soprano Alexis Peart, their cat Monteverdi, and their dog Poppea. Outside of the arts, Nic is an advanced rock-climbing instructor and enjoys scuba diving. A devoted Handel fan, their favorite Baroque aria is “Crude furie degli orridi abissi” from Xerxes, and their favorite Baroque work is Messiah.

Shelby Levine
Marketing & Audience Services Manager

Shelby joined Boston Baroque as Marketing and Audience Development Manager in 2025, bringing a strong background in arts engagement and community outreach. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Studies from Elon University and earned her Master’s in Arts Administration from Boston University. Before Boston Baroque, Shelby served as Program and Outreach Manager at Boston City Singers, where she led initiatives to grow community partnerships and support youth development through music.

Shelby is a dedicated advocate for live performance and audience connection. When not managing ticketing systems or crafting marketing campaigns, she can be found reading a good book, stress baking, or attempting numerous craft projects.

Maria Whitcomb
Individual Giving Manager & Director of Special Events

Maria Whitcomb joined Boston Baroque in 2019 and now serves as Individual Giving Manager & Director of Special Events. During her tenure, she has held roles spanning box office management, audience services, database administration, and development operations. She now cultivates donor relationships and leads special events supporting Boston Baroque’s artistic mission.

Maria is also an active soprano and serves as soprano section leader for Commonwealth Chorale. She has performed with Lilith Vocal Ensemble and MetroWest Chamber Players, and her operatic credits include the title role in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief. Composer Bruno Faria wrote the title role in his chamber opera Voices Followed: The Illumination of Joan of Arc especially for her. Maria holds degrees from Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music and the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
