American soprano Amanda Forsythe returns to Boston Baroque as the enchanting Ginevra in Ariodante! A beloved Boston Baroque favorite, she has captivated audiences in Agrippina, Amadigi, and starred in the title roles of L’incoronazione di Poppea and Partenope. A Grammy-winning soprano with over 25 recordings to her name, she’s dazzled audiences from Covent Garden to Carnegie Hall. Celebrated for her radiant voice and effortless agility, Forsythe is a baroque powerhouse who brings Handel’s heroine to life with vocal fireworks and unforgettable artistry!
ANN MCMAHON QUINTERO | Polinesso
A Boston Baroque favorite, mezzo-soprano Ann McMahon Quintero returns this season as the devious Polinesso in Ariodante. A dynamic interpreter of oratorio and opera, she has been a frequent presence with Boston Baroque, captivating audiences in Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, M. Haydn’s Requiem in C minor, as Cornelia in Giulio Cesare, Juditha in Juditha Triumphans, and Storgé in Jephtha. With her commanding stage presence and evocative storytelling, Ann continues to be a powerful voice in the operatic and concert world. Don’t miss her return to BB!
BRANDON CEDEL | King of Scotland
Bass-baritone Brandon Cedel makes his Boston Baroque debut as the commanding King of Scotland in Ariodante! A distinguished bass-baritone with a career spanning the Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne, and Oper Frankfurt, Cedel brings his rich, powerful voice to Handel’s masterpiece. Known for his dynamic stage presence and versatility, he has taken on roles from Figaro to Méphistophélès and now adds Boston Baroque to his list of esteemed collaborations. RICHARD PITTSINGER | Lurcanio
American tenor Richard Pittsinger makes his highly anticipated Boston Baroque debut this season as Lurcanio in Ariodante. Praised for his expressive singing and powerful high register, Richard is rapidly gaining recognition as a versatile artist whose repertoire spans both early and modern works. His recent stage credits include performances with the Boston Early Music Festival, Juilliard Opera, and the Glimmerglass Festival, with roles ranging from Aminta in Handel’s Atalanta to Orfeo in L’Orfeo. This season, Richard also debuted in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse and Telemann’s Don Quichotte, while continuing his international journey with a European opera debut at the Opéra Comique in Paris. Boston Baroque audiences are sure to be captivated by his nuanced portrayal of Lurcanio, adding to his growing reputation as a rising star in early music.
JASON MCSTOOTS | Odoardo
Tenor Jason McStoots makes his Boston Baroque debut this season as Odoardo in Ariodante, bringing his deep expertise in historically informed performance to the stage. A veteran of the early music world, Jason is known for his expressive storytelling, stylistic precision, and versatility across both opera and concert repertoire. An acclaimed interpreter of Baroque opera, Jason has performed with the Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Lyric Opera, and internationally with ensembles specializing in period performance. His discography includes multiple Grammy-winning and nominated recordings, including La Descente d’Orphée aux enfers and Psyché with BEMF. He is also a longtime core member of Blue Heron, bringing Renaissance and Medieval music to life. Boston Baroque audiences can look forward to Jason’s distinctive combination of elegance, wit, and vocal finesse in Ariodante.
ROBIN JOHANNSEN | Dalinda
Soprano Robin Johannsen makes her highly anticipated Boston Baroque debut this season as Dalinda in Ariodante. Renowned for her scintillating coloratura, virtuosic agility, and expressive warmth. With a deep passion for Baroque and Classical repertoire, she collaborates frequently with esteemed conductors such as René Jacobs, Jonathan Cohen, Philippe Herreweghe, and Andrea Marcon. She has performed with renowned ensembles including the Freiburger Barockorchester, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and Concerto Köln, and her extensive discography features award-winning recordings of Handel, Telemann, and Mozart.
